Common questions

What does LED light therapy actually do after microneedling?

LED uses specific wavelengths to penetrate the skin at different depths. After microneedling, when the healing cascade is already activated, LED amplifies that response — red light supports collagen synthesis, near-infrared reduces inflammation and improves circulation. The result is less post-treatment redness, faster healing, and a more robust collagen response than microneedling alone.

Which ZO® serum is used in Tier 01?

For Tier 01, we use either the Firming Serum (targeting loss of elasticity and skin laxity) or the Brightalive Serum (best for uneven tone, hyperpigmentation, and dullness). The serum is applied during your session when microchannels are open for maximum absorption — and the remainder goes home with you to continue working between appointments. We'll recommend which is right for your skin at your appointment.

What is PRF and how is it different from PRP?

PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) is the next generation of PRP. Both use a small sample of your own blood, processed to concentrate your platelets and growth factors. PRF is processed without anticoagulants, producing a fibrin matrix — a slower, sustained release of growth factors directly into the tissue. Applied immediately after microneedling, PRF absorbs through open microchannels, reaching deeper layers than topical application alone.

Is there downtime after the Glow Protocol?

Mild redness and tightness are normal for 24–48 hours. The LED therapy included in every tier actively helps reduce typical post-treatment redness. Most clients feel comfortable returning to work the next day. We recommend avoiding heavy exercise, direct sun exposure, and makeup for 24 hours, and no face washing for at least 12 hours.

How many sessions will I need?

Many clients notice meaningful improvement after a single session. For comprehensive, lasting results we recommend a series of 3 sessions spaced 3–6 weeks apart. For acne scarring, a series of 4–6 may be recommended. Financing is available through Cherry if spreading the cost is helpful.

Is this safe for all skin types including darker skin tones?

Yes — SkinPen is safe across all Fitzpatrick skin types (I–VI), including deeper skin tones more sensitive to heat-based treatments.
