It works the same way as traditional neuromodulators, temporarily relaxing the facial muscles that cause lines, but what sets it apart is how long it lasts.
Where Botox and Dysport typically wear off in 3–4 months, Daxxify uses a proprietary peptide stabilization technology (Peptide-Enhanced Purity, or PEP) that keeps the active ingredient effective significantly longer — a median duration of 6 months, and up to 9 months for many patients.

How is Daxxify different from Botox?
The differences come down to duration and technology. Duration: Daxxify lasts 6–9 months (median 6 months) compared to Botox's 3–4 months — roughly twice as long. Technology: Daxxify uses peptide stabilization (PEP) instead of human or animal-derived proteins, which is how the active ingredient stays effective longer. Practical impact: you need only 2 treatments per year instead of 3–4.
How long does Daxxify really last?
Clinical studies showed that 50% of patients reached 6 months, 28% reached up to 9 months, and nearly all patients had at least 4 months of results. Your individual duration depends on metabolism, muscle strength, dosage, and treatment area. Most patients can confidently plan for 6+ months. Results fade gradually — there's no abrupt "wearing off" moment.
Does Daxxify hurt?
Daxxify injections feel similar to any other neuromodulator — brief pinches lasting seconds. The formula contains lidocaine for added comfort, and we use ultra-fine needles to minimize discomfort. Most patients find it very tolerable without numbing; ice is available if desired.
When will I see results from Daxxify?
You'll notice initial smoothing within 2–3 days — faster than Botox's typical 3–7 day onset. Significant improvement is visible within one week, with full results at 2 weeks.
Can I switch from Botox or Dysport to Daxxify?
Absolutely — many patients do exactly this because they're tired of treatments every 3–4 months. We recommend waiting until your current neuromodulator has worn off completely before transitioning. We often suggest starting with frown lines to experience Daxxify's duration, then expanding to additional areas if satisfied. Your injector will build a personalized transition plan during your consultation.
What should I avoid after my Daxxify treatment?
Follow standard neuromodulator aftercare for 24 hours: don't lie flat for 4 hours after injection, avoid rubbing or massaging treated areas, skip strenuous exercise, avoid excessive heat (saunas, hot yoga, hot tubs), and limit alcohol. You can return to most normal activities immediately. We provide written aftercare instructions at your appointment.
Is Daxxify FDA-approved and safe?
Yes. Daxxify received FDA approval in September 2022 for moderate to severe glabellar (frown) lines — the first new neuromodulator approved in over a decade. Its safety profile was demonstrated in clinical trials involving over 2,700 patients. Side effects are similar to other neuromodulators: most commonly headache, with mild injection-site reactions possible. Eyelid drooping is rare and temporary.
Will Daxxify work if other neuromodulators stopped working for me?
Daxxify uses a different stabilization technology — peptide-based rather than protein-based — so it may work differently in your body. Some patients with reduced response to other neuromodulators have found success with Daxxify. However, if you have true antibody resistance to botulinum toxin itself, Daxxify may not be effective. We'll review your history and give you an honest assessment.
Can I get Daxxify while pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Like all neuromodulators, Daxxify is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. While there is no evidence of harm, adequate safety studies have not been conducted. We recommend waiting until after you've finished breastfeeding to resume injectable treatments.
