Ultra™

LaseMD Ultra is a non-ablative fractional laser — meaning it treats only a fraction of the skin at a time, leaving surrounding tissue intact for faster healing. Unlike ablative lasers (like CO2 or Erbium) that remove the outer skin layer entirely, LaseMD creates precision microchannels while preserving the skin surface. The result is meaningful correction with dramatically less downtime. Its 1927nm Thulium wavelength is also uniquely well-suited for pigmentation correction across all skin types.

Most patients see noticeable improvement after a single treatment, but a series of 3–5 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results — especially for pigmentation, texture, or acne scarring. Some patients choose to do gentle maintenance sessions every 3–4 months to sustain their results year-round. We'll build a personalized plan based on your skin goals and starting point.

Downtime depends on your treatment intensity. At gentle settings, you may be pink for 12–24 hours with no flaking. At medium intensity (the most common), expect 1–3 days of redness and some light flaking as the microchannels heal. At deeper settings, redness and peeling can last 3–5 days. Most patients return to work or normal activities the day after treatment, and makeup can typically be applied within 24 hours with SPF.

Most patients describe LaseMD Ultra as a warm, prickly sensation — similar to a mild sunburn feeling on the skin. Topical numbing cream is applied before deeper sessions to maximize comfort. The built-in cooling in the handpiece also helps manage heat during treatment. The vast majority of patients find it very tolerable, and the 20–30 minute session goes quickly.

Yes — with proper calibration. LaseMD Ultra is one of the few resurfacing lasers with a strong safety profile across the full Fitzpatrick spectrum, including Types IV–VI. The key is adjusting energy and density settings appropriately for your skin type. We use our Fitzpatrick assessment during consultation to ensure your treatment is set correctly. Patients with deeper tones may require lower initial intensities and a more graduated series approach.

Arrive with clean skin and no active sunburn. Avoid retinols and exfoliating acids 3–5 days before your appointment. Do not use self-tanner in the weeks prior. Wear or bring SPF 30+ for after your session. Stay well-hydrated in the days leading up to treatment. During your consultation, we'll give you a complete prep checklist tailored to your specific treatment intensity.

Initial skin brightening and smoothing are often visible within 3–5 days once the post-treatment redness and flaking subside. Collagen remodeling continues for 3–6 months after each session, meaning your results will continue to improve over time. With a series of treatments, cumulative collagen building compounds with each session — the final results at the end of a 4–5 treatment plan are significantly more dramatic than after a single session.

Yes — and combination treatments are some of our most powerful protocols. LaseMD Ultra pairs exceptionally well with Potenza RF Microneedling for whole-depth skin correction (surface + deep dermis). It can also be combined with injectables like Botox or Daxxify and dermal fillers on the same or adjacent visits.
