We recommend avoiding laser treatment on recently tanned skin. A tan increases the melanin in your skin temporarily, which can cause the laser to target the skin surface rather than the hair follicle — increasing the risk of burns or pigment changes. Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for at least 2 weeks before your session. Winter in Anchorage is actually an ideal time to start a series — less sun exposure means safer, more effective treatments. Arrive with the lightest skin you've had all year.
Laser hair removal works by targeting melanin (pigment) in the hair follicle, so darker hair colors respond best — black and dark brown hair typically see the strongest and fastest results.
