Better skin texture, with very little downtime
SkinPen was the first FDA-cleared microneedling device. It smooths texture, softens acne scars and fine lines, and refines pores by prompting your skin to make new collagen. Most people are back to normal the next day.
Tiny channels that tell your skin to rebuild
SkinPen uses a sterile, single-use tip of very fine needles to make thousands of tiny channels in the skin. Your skin treats them as small injuries and responds by making new collagen and elastin.
There's no heat or laser involved, which is why it's gentle, works across skin tones, and has very little downtime. The change builds gradually over weeks, not overnight.
- Acne scars
- Fine lines
- Uneven texture
- Enlarged pores
- Neck wrinkles
- Dull, tired-looking skin
- Surgical scars
- Stretch marks
About an hour, start to finish
SkinPen is performed by our licensed estheticians, Amy Kondi and Kassidy O'Connell.
We cleanse your skin and apply a numbing cream for 20 to 30 minutes.
The SkinPen glides across your skin for 30 to 45 minutes. Most people feel light pressure or a fine scratching.
If you've added PDGF, it goes on right away while the channels are open. You'll leave pink, like a mild sunburn.
Results that build over time
Pink and a little tight for 24 to 48 hours, then settling.
Skin looks fresher, pores look smaller, makeup sits better.
Lines and scars soften. Each session in your series adds to the last.
One session helps hold and build on what your series achieved.

A good fit for most people
Because it doesn't use heat or light, SkinPen works for many skin tones that laser treatments have to approach carefully.
- Active breakouts or infection in the area
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Blood-thinning medications
- A history of keloid scarring
- Isotretinoin (Accutane) in the past 6 months
Keep it simple
You'll get written instructions at your visit. The short version:
No makeup. No sweating, saunas, or hot showers.
Don't wash the area for 12 hours.
Gentle cleanser and moisturizer only. No actives.
Slowly reintroduce retinoids and exfoliants.
And daily SPF 30 or higher, every day, including Alaska winters.
SkinPen with Pure PDGF
SkinPen works well on its own. If you want to get more out of each session, PDGF is the add-on we recommend.
A purified platelet-derived growth factor applied right after your treatment, while the channels are still open. It supports collagen and elastin production and helps your skin recover.
$350 added to a single session, or less per session in a series.
About Pure PDGF →SkinPen is where I start when someone wants better skin quality and can't take much time off. It's gradual, so I'd rather you plan for a series than expect a big change after one visit.

SkinPen or RF microneedling?
Both build collagen. RF adds heat for more tightening, at a higher price. If you're not sure, that's what the consultation is for.
SkinPen pricing
Priced by area. A series of three to six sessions gives the best results, and series pricing saves on each visit.
Purified growth factor to support collagen, elastin, and recovery.
Platelet-rich fibrin drawn from your own blood.

How many SkinPen treatments will I need?
Most people notice fresher, smoother skin after one session. For acne scars or fine lines, plan on a series of three to six, spaced four to six weeks apart. We'll recommend a number at your consultation based on what you're treating.
Does microneedling hurt?
We numb your skin for 20 to 30 minutes first. Most people feel light pressure or a fine scratching. The forehead and around the nose can feel a little sharper.
What's the downtime? When can I wear makeup?
Expect redness for 24 to 48 hours, like a mild sunburn. Most people go back to work the next day. Skip makeup for 24 hours, and if PDGF was applied, don't wash the area for 12 hours.
Is SkinPen safe for darker skin tones?
SkinPen was studied across Fitzpatrick skin types I through VI, and because it doesn't use heat or light, the risk of pigment changes is lower than with many lasers. We still assess your skin first. Our Fitzpatrick skin type quiz is a good place to start.
What is PDGF, and should I add it?
Pure PDGF is a purified platelet-derived growth factor applied right after SkinPen, while the channels are open. It supports collagen production and recovery. It's optional, and we'll tell you honestly whether it makes sense for your goals. More on Pure PDGF.
SkinPen or RF microneedling: which should I choose?
SkinPen is best for texture, acne scars, pores, and overall glow. RF microneedling adds radiofrequency heat for more tightening, which helps more with laxity and deeper lines. We'll help you decide at your consultation.
